Cynthia Moreno
Co-Chair, NCCP Economics Committee Director of Conservation and Experiential Programming, Forest Preserves of Cook County
Cynthia Moreno is the Co-Chair of the Next Century Conservation Plan’s People Committee. Cynthia is also Director of the Department of Conservation and Experiential Programming for the Forest Preserves of Cook County. This department is responsible for all public educational and outdoor recreational programming as well as community outreach and engagement.
With extensive experience in community engagement and public programming, Cynthia has more than 30 years of experience working in government for the City of Chicago, County of Cook and State of Illinois. Her passion for exposing and educating communities on the benefits of exploring nature and the environment are an asset in this position. Some of her experience includes: serving as Deputy Director for the State’s Child Welfare Agency; Regional Manager for the Chicago Park District with over site of 127 parks on the City’s west side; and Residential Division Director for a community non-profit. This experience within the social service field brings with it the opportunity to connect with many of the county’s underserved communities.
Cynthia was born and raised in Chicago. She has a master’s degree in Bi-Lingual Education. She is a mother of two daughters and currently lives in Chicago.
