Robert Steele

Cook County Commissioner

Robert Steele serves as President Pro Tempore of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, Chair of the Cook County Contract Compliance Committee, and Vice-Chair of the Cook County Health and Hospitals and Environmental Control Committees.  He also serves as Chair of the Contract Compliance Committee and Vice-Chair of the Finance and Environmental Control Committees of the Forest Preserves.  Nationally, he serves as Chair of the Defined Contribution and Retirement Advisory Committee for the National Association of Counties. Commissioner Steele has contributed to the establishment and growth of North Lawndale small businesses and has brought Empowerment Zone economic development programs to the City of Chicago. He also has supported employment programs for North Lawndale youth and was instrumental in organizing the Chicago Park District councils to improve community parks. Commissioner Steele is an ex-officio member of the Conservation and Policy Council.
