In the 20th Century, we preserved the land. In the 21st, let’s restore it.

Benefits of Restoration

Goal 4-1

Healthy natural land enhances the quality of life for everyone in Cook County. Children and adults alike can discover nature and enjoy outdoor recreation. Diverse plants and animals thrive in a healthy natural environment, which also reduces flooding, cleans our air and water, increases adjacent property values, and creates opportunities for investment in nature-related businesses and tourism. People are healthier because of outdoor exercise and breathing cleaner air. Thriving preserves offer educational enrichment for children and research opportunities for scientists.
